Choosing the Canadian Province to Settle In

Which Canadian province to relocate to?

Charles Dickens described Canada as a land "full of hope and promise."

Moving to Canada

In moving to Canada, you have a choice of ten provinces and three territories in which to settle. In making the decision as to which Canadian province to settle in, it is advisable to research each province, before making your final decision. Too many immigrants base their decision just on who they know in Canada (e.g. a second cousin whom they have not seen for 15 years).

You should base your decision on the:

  • Best economic considerations for you and your family. It should be based on research on the job market for your particular industry or profession. Economic benefits for you and your family various tremendously from province to province.
  • Schooling and university opportunities for your children.
  • Cultural diversity of each province. Would you want to settle in an area where there is a large ethnic community from your country or would you prefer locations with a lesser ethnic-mix?

To help you get a fairly good idea of work and play in each province, here are the official (and some non-official) websites on each province and the major cities.
